Review: Hoover FloorMate

As far as mopping goes, this is the winner. I don't need anything else until this one breaks down. The day after I bought the FloorMate I had a disgusting mess on my hands. I thought it would be a great test for this new machine.

The Product

  • 3-in-1 bagless cleaner vacuums, washes, and dries hard floors
  • Patented counter-rotating SpinScrub brushes gently wash and scrub from all angles
  • Long quick-release power cord lets you clean large rooms without unplugging
  • Includes 30 hard-surface wipes and detergent

The Good

  • Dries quickly
  • The water tank is small, but somehow fills the dirty tank with 2x as much liquid
  • Tanks are very light, easy to remove and wash
  • Easy to push around
  • Power on button

The Bad

  • Do not use 'vacuum' setting to vacuum. Use an actual vacuum instead

For the Spoonies

For me personally, mopping the floor with a mop and bucket costs about 3 spoons per 1 room. With this FloorMate I spend 1 spoon per 2-3 rooms. A vast improvement over all the mopping methods I've tried including the swiffer and the Shark Steam Mop

Recommendation

I highly recommend this mop for everyone! It's super easy to use and does the job extremely well.

The Test

So I was cleaning the rocks in my turtle tank a day after I bought my FloorMate. Pure coincidence by the way! I dumped all the rocks into an ice chest so I could roll it outside and put a hose to them. When I came back in I saw a disgusting trail of turtle poop about 30 feet long. I forgot to close the spout on the ice chest! I thought to myself 'this is going to take ALL my spoons to clean this up.' Then I realized I had my new machine. Luckily I thought to record the mess. Unfortunately I forgot to record the actual cleaning.

It took me 30 seconds to walk the trail with the FloorMate. One quick sweep and the floor was spotless. No pushing back-and-forth. No need for a second go-over. This thing is awesome.

A shot of the clean floor before my attempt at cleaning the carpet.
